Despite being made from recycled cardboard, the Help Desk is quite resilient

Aarambh, a non-profit organization based in Mumbai, India, has recently designed and created a portable desk that would not be entirely out of place in a Transformers movie.

Thus, Aarambh's Help Desk can easily be folded and turned into a bookbag once school hours are over and the time comes for kids to pack their stuff and head home.

Interestingly enough, Tree Hugger tells us that the Help Desk, a picture of which is available above, is made from recycled cardboard collected from local recycling centers and businesses in India.

In case you haven't figured it out just yet, the Help Desk has not been created with kids living in high-income countries in mind. On the contrary, it is intended for children in India's rural regions.

These kids are often forced to sit on the floor while attending classes and carry their books back home in regular plastic bags, the folks behind non-profit group Aarambh explain.

Spending one too many hours taking notes on the floor can lead to problems such as poor posture and poor eyesight, and it is these issues that the group wants to address with the help of their Help Desk.

Aarambh has until now made and distributed several such portable desks to kids in rural Maharashtra. The group plans to continue working on this project and introduce even more children to its Help Desk.
