It was only a few days ago when I introduced you to a new, really cool and totally eco-friendly plantable wrapping paper. It turns out that there is one other way that greenheads can enjoy Christmas while doing something nice for Mother Nature: buy plantable holiday cards for themselves, their friends and family.

Niko Niko's plantable Christmas cards cost just €3.95 ($5.44), feature green-oriented illustrations and, when planted, sprout colorful wildflowers. They are part of the company's Plantable Happiness collection.

According to Inhabitat, the cards have seeds embedded in them, so all that one has to do to grow a small patch of greenery from them is sprinkle some earth and add water.

Apparently, some 300,000 trees are chopped down and turned into greeting cards each year in the United Kingdom alone. Planting one or two of Niko Niko's eco-friendly holiday cards probably won't make up for this, but it sure is better than doing nothing.
