Development Of Rich Web Applications With Object Oriented Javascript

Echo3 Client-Side JavaScript Demonstration Application

Rich web applications allow every Internet user to enjoy the functionality of common desktop programs. Echo framework helps developers to create Ajax rich web applications based

on server side code (Java) or client side code (Javascript).

The client side applications made with Echo framework using object oriented Javascript classes do not require the presence of an application server and as a consequence they are available offline. The simplification of applications creation based on object oriented Javascript code is introduced by CoreJS, a Javascript library that interacts with Echo framework, but could also be used independently.

CoreJS provides various extensions for Javascript programming language to enable the rapid production of object oriented code: classes with object based inheritance, arrays and DOM management tools, memory wrappers with increased performance in managing associative arrays and more. The object based inheritance, as compared to prototype based inheritance, allows developers to create the event handlers in an efficient manner. The Javascript code will be much easier to write and maintain due to a very intuitive synthax.

Regarding the mechanism of components rendering "The "back-end", which is responsible for rendering components within the web browser, it has been re-engineered for Echo3. Instead of each component having its own client-server serialization code, Echo3's web application container simply serializes the state of updated components directly to the client, where JavaScript versions of the server-side components are then created and updated."(NextApp, Inc.).

Echo3 framework is compatible with web browsers that supports DOM2/CSS2.1 and JavaScript 1.5/ECMAScript v3 standards like Mozilla Firefox, Safari, Opera and more. The Echo3 framework is available for download at the NextApp, Inc. website. This framework will definitely mark a new important step in the future of rich web applications based on object oriented Javascript both from code management simplicity and applications increased performance point of view.
