One day after LG unleashed its first dual-core Android-based smartphone, the Optimus 2X, another secret project of the Korean manufacturer has been revealed. The new project is codenamed LG B and consists of an unannounced Android device with a Super Bright touch display.

The mysterious device posed for a session of photos which were posted a few hours ago by Phandroid. Even though the information about the handset's spec-sheet is scarce, the pictures reveal an unusually bright display.

The comparison pictures show that the LG's display is brighter than Samsung's Galaxy S, or even Apple's iPhone 4.

As a side note, it might not be too long until Apple's iPhone 4, which is advertised as the thinnest smartphone on the market, is taken over by the newly spotted LG B, which seems even thinner.

In addition to what can be seen in the pictures, the only extra information that Phandroid's tipster could come up with is an odd comparison chart that probably shows the display features of presumably three smartphones: LG B, Samsung Galaxy S and iPhone 4. If the chart is accurate, then we have a winner.

Apparently, when it comes to screen brightness, LG's B 4-inch display emits 700 nits (candela per square metre), while Apple's iPhone 4 manages to display 500 nits and Samsung Galaxy S only 300.

This is probably the main reason that the device's codename is B, as in “brightness.” However, the LG B is a work in progress, as the tipster claims the smartphone is not yet finalized.

If the information is real and LG is indeed working on this project, we might get an additional Android 'beast' from the Korean manufacturer, besides the Optimus 2X.

Furthermore, it's likely that we will obtain more information about the LG B project at the CES 2011, in January.
