Eat Sand to Stay Fit and Preserve Your Health

Even if unbelievable for many people, it seems that ordinary sand may become the modern 'healthy food' and 'medicine' at the same time, which keeps us safe from health disorders and prolongs our life span. The new type of 'preventive medicine' or 'remedy' has been discovered by an Indian woman who is now 80 years old and states that sand is her miraculous ingredient
to fight against old age and related diseases and conditions.

Ram Rati lives in Lucknow's Chinhar locality, India and she believes she has 'unlocked' the mystery of long healthy life. She considers that having a kilo of sand every morning before eating is the best way to preserve one's health, including her own. Therefore, she eats sand every morning before consuming any other food and then goes on with her daily housework, businesses etc.

Before trying sand, Ram Rati consulted many doctors when having health problems. Specialists recommended her to take calcium supplements and other medication, but nothing was efficient. Until one day when, just for fun, she tried to eat sand. Noticing that her symptoms eased, the Indian woman went on eating sand every day and amazingly saw how all the pain vanished like erased with a sponge. She reported that she has never suffered from stomach problems since she started her 'sand treatment.'

"I have been eating sand daily for the past 40 years. When young, I tried it for fun once. Since then, I am used to it. My brothers and relatives pestered me to quit it but it was all in vain. I have no health hazards. Although I quit mud concrete, I could not get rid of eating sand. I eat on an average around one or one-and-a-half kilos of sand per day," she confidently stated.

Ram Rati's granddaughter described the 'sand ritual' of her grandma, when and how she uses to consume the remedy: "She gets up at 4 am, performs her prayers and then eats sand before breakfast. She eats it before lunch and evening tea. She collects sand from outside, dries it up in sunlight and decants it. At times she roasts it too to suit her taste."

I am on kidney dialysis and after my renal failure I had a desire to eat sand. I had passed a construction site and god the dirt smelled so good. I desided to try eating sand because it seems clean. I get mine from Monahans sand hills. I screen it to remove any rocks. I take three tea spoons and place it in my mouth. Once it becomes very wet I wash it out with a few mouth fulls of water. Very little is left but it will last a few hours. I crush the small grains with my teeth. I realize its not good for my teeth but I have only lost one tooth and I'm 62 years old so what do I care? Oh well to each thier own. Life is short and I don't have many years left any way.

I also crave sand. I know I have a iron deficiency. I had blood tests done. I prefer dark grey to black sand and eat approx. 5 teaspoons at a time. When the rain falls on the dry earth, I want to put my face to the ground and smell it. I am already doing this for years. I am now 47years. I will put snacks aside to have a side plate of sand. I do not eat wet sand. I put the dry sand through a sieve. The sand must be nearly as fine as dust. Then I microwave it for 2 minutes on high to kill all living organisms in it and then I lick it till all is finished. If it is not harmfull to my body I would continue with it. Is there anyone that knows otherwise?

I crave sand constantly. I usually retrieve it from a park. I eat quite a bit everyday, and I love it. It's sometimes difficult to get, because there are often kids playing in the park, but i manage. I am 19 years old. I may be low in iron, and started taking iron supplements, but the cravings persisted. Eating sand calms me down. Sometimes my stomach hurts from it. I just hope it's not doing any long-term damage.

I have eaten sand for about a year and eat the washed wet sand used to fill sandpits. It has a great consistency and very enjoyable. I am 42.

I have been doing this for the past 6 months and I cannot stop. I have a potplant in my bathroom and that is the only * I allow myself to eat. On occasion I will try some of the finer * from the potplants at work, but it's just not the same. Every night - especially if I am very stressed, I go to the bathroom and sit the chewing and crunching away on the yummy * . I know it sound phsyco to some people, but it tastes good and feels good. Basically until I have complications or have medical problems, I think I will continue. I know that sea * has apparently got some hectic parasites etc. which could make you really sick, so I will stick to my fabulous potplant * in the bathroom.

This has to be the dumbest thing I've ever read. I kept waiting for some scientific evidence, but no, apparently you have made this outrageous claim about prolonging life based on a single very elderly woman's claim. Have you met elderly people? They claim a lot. If I ran off and wrote articles based on what elderly people say I'd have something like this "Breaking news: Hitler didn't kill himself, he was shot by my grandfather"

Makes for some exciting news to people gullible enough to believe it....oh wait, that's what you do. Everyone who had anything to do with this article should be ashamed. Except for Ram Rati, she doesn't know any better.

It's called pica you half wit And has nothing to do with following a health article. These people have a nutrient deficiency. I guess you are impressed with your own unwashed comments though.
