In the computer world, no matter how easy to use a program may be, if its Help content is not good enough, that can ruin its
commercial success, since most beginners rely heavily on such support from the producer, not to say about the advanced users that need to locate quickly exactly that hidden feature they need to accomplish their tasks faster, better and in the most convenient way.
Of course the situation can be different, depending on the software application we're talking about, but in most cases, I can't live without some reliable documentation - although I may use it only once in a while, it's good to know that you got something to rely on. Just as system builders need good components and programmers need fast code editors and compilers, the same way people that create the Help files of the programs we use day by day need a tool reliable and easy to use to help them get the job done the right way.
The PandaWare Company is a software producer that has just updated one of its products that is called Simple Help Editor to version 2.0. This help system authoring tool comes with a new feature, called Quick Styles, that allows you to apply and change text styles from a help document much easier than before.
Simple Help Editor is able to save your work using the HTML and Apple Help Book formats, and also comes with a proprietary styled text format for REALbasic and a new feature called Glossary that lets you save and modify text fragments. Even better, this last update allows you to embed images in your HTML based documents and add external hyperlinks, and more.
