Photos of baby chicks are known to flood the web around this time of the year, what with thousands of people around the world celebrating Easter.

Since we’re not ones not to get behind the latest craze, here’s a super cool picture showing a sunspot that looks very much like a baby chick.

The oddly shaped sunspot was imaged by a British amateur astronomer by the name of Gordon Ewen, who not too long ago had the chance to observe it with the help of a telescope he keeps in his garden.

“I've been interested in astronomy since I was a child. I remember I used to love borrowing books about space from the library and I had telescope when I was 10,” the man said in an interview.

57-year-old Gordon Ewen, who now lives in the town in Letchworth in Hertfordshire, England, took the photo a few weeks back, on March 10, DM tells us.

However, it’s just now that the image is grabbing headlines and making the rounds online, probably because, for quite mysterious reasons, Easter and photos of baby chicks are inseparable.

As explained by scientists, spots like the one caught on film by Gordon Ewen often form on the surface of our parent star, and some take fairly bizarre shapes.

Sunspots come into being when magnetic fields cause a drop in the temperature of specific areas on the surface of the star. Some are so big that they’re easily noticeable from Earth.
