EarthLink has revealed details concerning its ProtectionPack in a press release presenting it as a solution to safeguard personal information, dodge spam and keep the Inbox clean. While
the service does nothing to filter or to otherwise block incoming spammed emails it delivers registered users alternative and anonymous email addresses that can replace their main one.
"Most of us get about 200 emails a week, and some of it is still junk mail sneaking past our blocking tools - so it's no surprise that our customers are ready for spammers to dance their last dance," said Stephen Currie, EarthLink's director product management, communication products. "EarthLink's ProtectionPack featuring Anonymous Email adds another layer of protection that helps subscribers out-smart spammers and cut-down on the bogus email messages that clog inboxes and can lead to fraud."
EarthLink has introduced similar protective measures in the past with spamBlocker and ScamBlocker, delivering panoply against spam and phishing attacks, and Anonymous Email is just the latest addition to its tiered security solutions. The service allows for the random generation of an array of anonymous email addresses and folders that can be used indiscriminately on the world wide web.
