Sony Online Entertainment has offered more information on the upcoming The Battle for Earth, the third named content package to be delivered to the MMO DC Universe Online, adding that a launch date for the content will soon be announced.

The biggest addition to the MMO is the Earth power set that any interested player will be able to use for his characters.

They are mostly focused on tanking and dealing damage, with constructs and automatons used in order to help the player in battles, with the new Geokinesis abilities that harness the power or seismic waves.

The new raid added is Themyscira, the home island of Wonder Woman, where gamers need to face off against Chimeric Brainiacs and then the powerful Avatar of Magic, working with units of Amazons and Beastmorphs while also engaging Cyclops, the Hydra and the Colossus.

The battle against Brainiac’s invasion of Earth continues in South Gotham, where players need to stop the construction of proto-Avatars that would enable the robotic monster to complete his conquest.

The new content also includes The Prime Battleground, a tough fight which will see the players group in order to defeat three Prime Avatars and then face Brainiac himself, with heroes fighting for justice just as the villains try to expand their own influence.

Jens Andersen, who is the creative director at Sony Online Entertainment working on DC Universe Online, stated, “With The Battle for Earth one war will come to a head, while another begins as we introduce a new chapter to the larger DCUO story.”

He added, “The Battle for Earth also has so much new action to jump in to including a massive Raid where you fight Brainiac’s final Avatar – the Avatar of Magic, new Duos, a new Alert and lots of new fighting to do in South Gotham.”

The Battle for Earth content will be offered for free to Legendary players while all other will have to buy it through the PSN or via the in-game marketplace.
