These updates improve the memory compatibility and fix the BIOS setup password problem

After only 3 hours since the announcement of BIOS 2.09 for EVGA X79 Dark, the producer has released new BIOS packages targeted at the other 3 devices included in its X79 series, namely BIOS version 2.03, 2.04, and 2.06 developed for the X79 SLI, FTW, and Classified devices, respectively.

For each of the compatible boards, these new updates improve the memory compatibility, remove the old BCLK code, fix the CPU multiplier control issue, and update the graphical user interface (GUI).

In addition to that, EVGA’s team has also managed to fix the BIOS setup password issue, the TDC limit that couldn’t be changed from the mouse, and the problem where the computer would do a full reset after BIOS settings were saved.

Yet, if these changes don’t highlight at least one of your board’s encountered issues, then performing a BIOS update is not recommended – if the computer works fine and doesn’t have any problems, don’t try to fix it.

If the upgrade is needed, however, then get the proper archive, expand it, and close all running programs and processes that might interfere with the update.

Now run the Windows_Update.bat file from the extracted folder, press any key, click “Yes” when the UAC messages appear, and afterwards press “Y” to initiate the flash process. Wait for the installation to complete, turn off the system when asked, and make sure you load BIOS default settings.

That being said, download BIOS 2.03 for EVGA X79 SLI, download BIOS 2.04 for EVGA X79 FTW, or download BIOS 2.06 for EVGA X79 Classified depending on which board you own, take into account the above mentioned aspects, and apply the latest BIOS version.
