Today, EVGA has unveiled a new BIOS package developed for its X79 Dark motherboard, namely version 2.08, which includes several fixes that improve the device’s overall performance and stability.

If installed, this new release fixes the incorrect voltage problem when the memory is set to manual mode, resolves the LED problem that didn’t show the proper CPU temperature, and updates the memory overclocking code.

In addition to that, BIOS 2.08 also adds memory compatibility, overclocking, and BCLK improvements, enhances the XMP profile information and CPU micro code, and fixes the CPU ratio bug and SATA optical drive issue.

Moreover, this new update adds a new Target Memory Frequency string, resolves the related problems with some items from the OC page that didn’t update immediately, and includes support for JCHA and JSYS1 fan monitoring.

As for installing, get the downloadable package, unzip it, close all running programs and processes that might interfere with the upgrade, and run the “Windows_Update.bat” file from within the newly extracted folder.

Now press any key to move forward, select “Yes” at the User Account Control dialog, and press “Y” to start the update process. During flashing, do not power off or reset the system because this might crash the update and render your device unstable.

After the process finishes and the computer automatically shuts down, power it back on, and go into BIOS setup to check if the installed version matches the latest one (2.08). While there, you can also load the default settings – a good idea after any BIOS update.

That being said, download BIOS 2.08 for EVGA X79 Dark, apply it to the motherboard, and stay “updated one minute ago.”
