EVGA has established itself as one of the leading vendors of NVIDIA-based graphics cards, providing computer enthusiasts with the very latest in graphics performance. Although its offering ranges from graphics cards to USB products and motherboards, it's mainly recognized for its line of GeForce graphics cards. One of its most recent updates includes a new GeForce GTX 285 graphics card for Mac users, providing Apple enthusiasts with a choice for NVIDIA's highest-performance single-GPU graphics card.

Packed inside a simple black box, the EVGA GTX 285 for Mac systems features the same technical specifications as on the regular PC version. Powered by a 55nm GT200 GPU, running at a cool 648MHz, the card has been built on a PCI-Express 2.0 x16 interface and features 240 Stream processors and 1GB of GDDR3 memory. It can enable support for high resolutions of 2056 by 1600, also taking advantage of NVIDIA's PureVideo HD technology, for an enhanced video experience of HD video content. As with all of the latest NVIDIA GPUs, this card also offers support for the company's CUDA technology.

Although it boasts the same features as EVGA's first GeForce GTX 285 GPU, the new Mac-edition model has been priced at US$449,99, a good US$100 more. As a matter of fact, the Mac card is priced higher even when compared to EVGA's SuperClocked and 2GB FTW editions, priced at US$359,99 and US$439,99, respectively. These two models provide PC users with factory-overclocked GPU and memory settings, while the FTW edition offers double the memory capacity. As it turns out, Mac users have to pay a premium over the price of standard versions of the same product.

The new GeForce GTX 285 graphics card for Mac users is now available for order through EVGA's website, providing customers with an alternative graphics solution for their desktop Apple system.
