The gaming industry is the main driving force behind the rapid advancements in graphics technology. NVIDIA and ATI, business unit of Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), both focus on this segment and periodically release new products aimed at satisfying consumers' needs for flawless graphics. One special advancement that opened up the possibility for double graphical performance was the invention of SLI and CrossFire/CrossFireX. These technologies enable multi-GPU configurations for drastically enhanced performance. EVGA has recently launched a special patch that enables the latest games to run on SLI configurations.

The latest EVGA SLI Enhancement patch, version 20 (01.15.10), is based on the NVIDIA GeForce 195.81 driver and provides SLI support for the Dark Void, Serious Sam HD and Avatar (Demo) games. In addition to SLI setups, the enhancement will also benefit single dual-GPU cards.

While this patch will enable SLI mode for the above games, it poses some slight drawbacks. When it is installed, all the existing SLI profiles will be reset. This means that end-users will either have to re-create their custom SLI profiles or not use the patch at all. In addition, the drivers will no longer be VHQL certified after the patch is applied.

The enhancement will be offered by default as part of the NVIDIA GeForce 195.81 beta driver and provides compatibility with the Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 operating systems (OS).

End-users interested in playing the aforementioned Avatar, Serious Sam HD and Dark Void in SLI mode may download the EVGA SLI Enhancement patch version 20 (01.15.10) from the company's official website.

As a final note, the company does not advise consumers to use this patch in conjunction with older drivers. While the enhancement might work with these older versions, it has not been tested and, as such, should only be used with the aforementioned NVIDIA GeForce 195.81.
