An EVGA official has just confirmed that the company's upcoming overclocking-oriented GTX 580 Classified graphics card will actually be available in two different versions, one of which will feature no less than 3GB of video buffer.

EVGA GTX “580 Classified 3GB is coming as well as 1.5GB,” said Jacob Freeman, product manager at EVGA, in a Twitter post that was published earlier today.

The GeForce GTX 580 Classified was spotted for the first time at the beginning of July, in a series of teaser images released by EVGA which depicted several of the features supported by the upcoming graphics card.

As all of the company's Classified products, this will also be geared towards extreme enthusiasts and overclockers and will sport a distinctive higher-than-average PCB that is required in order to accommodate the beefed-up power delivery circuit.

From what we know at this point, this will carry only high-performance components as well as a couple of Nec/Tokkin proadlizer film capacitors for added voltage stability.

In order to deliver the power required by this beast of a card, EVGA has included two 8-pin and one 6-pin PCI Express connectors, the latter most probably being used to feed the memory chips as it was the case with the GTX 285 Classified.

In addition to the impressive PWM, EVGA's upcoming creation will also pack a series of other overclocking features, such as on-board voltage read points, dual BIOS chips, three power monitoring pin headers and a series of status LEDs for the main operating voltages.

Outside of the cooling solution that the GTX 580 Classified was pictured with at the beginning of the month, EVGA has stated that is also working on a water block for this card.

No details regarding the operating clocks of this solution have been revealed, but the graphics card is expected to come factory overclocked. Pricing and availability are also unknown at this time.
