Rumors about a dual-GPU Nvidia graphics solution have been making their way on the Web ever since Nvidia launched the Fermi architecture, and now these seem to be confirmed as EVGA has shown off, over at CES, a monster of a card that seems to pair two GF104 cores while costing less than a GTX 580.

Not many details are available at this time, but judging from the pictures provided, this is certainly a dual-GPU video board since it features no less than three DVI ports as well as Nvidia 3D Surround support.

However, the rest of the specifications are rather sketchy as Tech Report claims that it is based on two GF110 GPUs while Hexus says the card is built around dual GTX 460 cores.

I tend to agree with the latter version, since Hexus seems to know a lot more details about this graphics solution.

What is certain, however, is that EVGA's creation carries at least eight Samsung K4G10325F one-gigabit GDDR5 DRAM chips, as those are visible on the back of the card, so expect at least 2GB of video buffer memory, 1GB per core.

Power is delivered via two eight pin PCIe connectors, which means that it can require up to 375W (75 provided via the PCIe slot and 300W via the dual 8-pin connectors), so a strong PSU is a must.

The cooling solution is made up of three cooling fans that are placed on an aluminum heatsink, one of the pictures provided revealing some rather thick cooper heatpipes.

As fas as its size is concerned, this card dwarfs the water-cooled EVGA GTX 580 as it appears to be at least a couple of inches longer.

According to Hexus, this gargantuan video board will be launched sometime during this spring and it will end up costing less than a GTX 580.
