The present update is only compatible with ACX 2.0 cards as the 1.0 version cannot support 0% fan mode

EVGA has just rolled out a new firmware package compatible with its GeForce GTX 970 ACX 2.0 graphics cards, namely version 1.1, which adds 0% fan mode when the device is idle.

This newly introduced feature is only compatible with ACX 2.0 cards (1.0 version cannot support this mode) and allows the fan to stop spinning if the card is below 60-67 degrees (C), therefore reducing both power consumption and acoustic level.

When it comes to installing this release, first check the device’s part number and make sure that your GTX 970 card is compatible with this update. The producer has made available installation files only for its 04G-P4-2974-KR, 04G-P4-2975-KR, and 04G-P4-2978-KR part numbers.

If the video component is supported, then save and unzip the downloadable archive, and uninstall the NVIDIA graphics driver but don’t reboot the system (this is a very important aspect – the update won’t be successful otherwise).

Now run the newly extracted “update.exe” file, press “y” twice to initiate the installation, allow the system to complete the process, and reboot the computer after the firmware has been applied. Also, you must reinstall the latest NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 Graphics Driver 344.16 to fully use the card’s power.

That being said, download EVGA GeForce GTX 970 ACX 2.0 Firmware 1.1, take into account all the aforementioned aspects, apply the package, and constantly check our website in order to stay “updated one minute ago.”
