In a recent interview taken by
Firing Squad, Nathan Richardsson, the senior producer at CCP brought us some input on the upcoming changes in EVE Online.
The Icelandic developers were already planning important changes in the graphical engine and texturing of the game for the greatly appraised Kali addon. In addition to the cruel Corporation vs Corporation fighting for control over large areas of space, EVE Online will now include advanced Faction vs Faction combat.
"The flagship however is Factional Warfare, where we're opening up the large NPC factions and empires for players to fight their wars for them in PvP. Up till now, the future of the NPC controlled universe and surrounding areas have been up to us to decide, but with this we hope to give more power to the players, releasing more control of the universe to the players.".
Keeping up to date with the recent developments from Microsoft, they are planning to release a new version of the game all together, called Eve Vista. Seeing as the game engine is already more than three years old, change seems only natural. CCP keeps true to the one server - one universe policy as the users of both versions will be able to keep playing side by side.
"We call it EVE Vista since it's mainly for that operating system at the moment. The content and gameplay will be exactly the same as with the current client, playing on the same servers in the same EVE universe. The only difference is that it will be utilizing the new features and optimizations of DirectX10 and then leveraging the programmable shader pipeline. For short, it'll be more spiffy when showing the new uber ships!"
