How to install the EVE Online game client on Ubuntu Linux 7.10

Those of you anxious to enter the world of EVE Online, who are using Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon, should go through the following steps to get the game client installed.

First you should download the .deb package and save it somewhere, preferably in your Home folder. When the download finishes, go where you've downloaded the package and right click on it. This action will bring up a menu, where you'll select the "Open with GDebi Package Installer" option. When the GDebi Package Installer starts, just click on the "Install Package" button (the program will ask for your password, to install the package) and you'll get the program shortcuts and installation configuration files on your computer.

The second thing you should do after you install the above mentioned package is to go to Applications -> Games -> Eve Online and start the client. The TransGaming License Agreement window will appear, click accept after you have read it. Next, the EVE Online for Linux Installer window will be displayed, with the Single-User Install radio button enabled as the default; just click continue and if you don't have the EveOnline-linux-######.dat (###### - represents a number) file somewhere on your system, the installer will download it, after you tick the "Internet" radio button. When the download ends, the "Unpacking of the Game" dialog will start, a process that will take some time.

When the game is unpacked, the Cedega engine will update/download: Mozilla Control Package, Cedega engine for EVE Online, Cedega User Interface, GDDB files, Starter kit self-updater and Microsoft Core Fonts. The game will launch after it finishes with all the settings, letting you enjoy EVE Online. Have fun!
