The increase was documented in comparison to EV sales reported in 2012

Reports say that, in the year 2013, people in France purchased a total of 8,779 electric vehicles. By comparison, sales of just 5,663 such cars were reported in this country back in 2012.

According to Green Car Congress, France's 2013 electric vehicles sales represent an increase of 55% when compared to the previous year.

The same source details that the Renault Zoe was the French people's favorite electric car in 2013. Thus, the country reported 5,511 registrations for this type of vehicle.

The Nissan Leaf and the Bolloré Bluecar were the second and the third favorites, and secured 1,438 and 658 registrations, respectively.

As far as electric vehicle vans are concerned, it appears that 2013 sales increased by 42% when compared to 2012. More precisely, the number of registrations upped from 3,651 to 5,175.

Another 46,785 hybrid vehicles were registered in France in 2013. This figure represents a 60% increase over the previous year.
