ESET, one of the leading developers of security software, has just released its Mobile Security application for Android devices. A trial version of the application is available in the Google Play store, but requires purchase after 30 days.

According ESET, the latest version of Mobile Security can be used for both Android smartphones and tablets.

It comes pre-loaded with support for 25 language localizations and the option to switch between them directly from the menu.

The security application offers a slew of features, such as: SMS/MMS Antispam, Anti-Theft Security System with GPS Localization, SIM matching, as well as Remote Lock and Remote Wipe.

With the Anti-Theft Security System, the application allows users to keep control over their sensitive data stored on the phone, even if their Android device is lost or stolen. Thanks to the integrated GPS Localization, the lost or stolen device can be located using a simple remote command.

ESET Mobile Security allows users to block the device remotely in order to prevent unauthorized access to the data on the device by using the Remote Lock option. Moreover, the Remote Wipe command will allow users to delete all data stored on the phone, remotely, by sending an SMS.

There’s also an SMS/MMS Antispam feature that provides users with the option to define trustworthy contacts by putting them on either a black or whitelist. Blocking messages from unknown numbers is possible as well.

ESET Mobile Security is now available as a 30-day trial version in the Google Play store and it should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 2.0.1 and up. It is also worth mentioning that a one-year license can be purchased for 9.99 USD (7.5 EUR).

There is definitely a significant growth of Android threats that we are detecting at ESET malware research centers around the world. The new ESET product not only protects you against malware with its unique behavior-based detection, but offers protection for your data in case of device theft or loss,” said ESET Security Intelligence Team Leader Robert Lipovsky.
