Today, ESET has made available for download a new version of its ESET Mobile Security application for devices running under the Android operating system, namely version 3.0.

The software, initially announced back in January, has been in a beta state for the past several months, as its developers have been working on nailing down issues and on fine-tuning new capabilities.

The same as before, the mobile app will provide users with increased levels of protection for their devices, but they will also add some new features to the list, so as to ensure a better overall experience to all those willing to give it a try.

With ESET Mobile Security 3.0, users will be able not only to keep their smartphones and tablets safe from various threats but will also enjoy better data privacy functionality.

Android users will be able to take advantage of updated Anti-Theft capabilities in the new app iteration, which also include integration with the my.eset.com web portal.

Through it, they will get the chance to easily locate a missing or stolen device, to lock it down or even to wipe all data on it, so as to ensure that no one receives access to their personal files.

Moreover, the my.eset.com also allows users to access photos snapped by a device’s front and back camera after it has been marked as missing, so that it could be located even easier.

ESET Mobile Security 3.0 also sports features such as SIM Matching, Suspicious state (if the PIN is entered incorrectly), On Screen Message, and Low Battery, which will send the device’s current location when the battery hits critical levels.

All these are available via the aforementioned online portal, and all that users need to do to take advantage of them is to register there.

Android users can try the mobile security app for free, which will provide them with access to features such as full device scans, scanning of downloaded applications, and some basic Anti-Theft functions.

However, there are a lot of other capabilities that ESET Mobile Security 3.0 can offer, which are available only after activating a 30-day trial or buying a license.

“Today’s users rely on their mobile devices in both their personal and professional lives to communicate, store data and even make financial transactions. As well as being a stressful event, a missing or stolen device can put a lot of sensitive data at-risk,” Ignacio Sbampato, chief sales and marketing officer, ESET, says.

“We received a lot of great feedback from our users on the importance of quick, efficient and easy device location and tracking, and we’re proud to launch our new and improved version of ESET Mobile Security with features to better protect their mobile devices.”

You can download ESET Mobile Security 3.0 for Android from Softpedia today. The application is compatible with all devices running Android 2.3 and up.
