October 2013 was the first fully-fledged European Cyber Security Month (ECSM), a program aimed at raising awareness and promoting cyber security education. The European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA) has published a report.

The report describes what has been achieved as a result of the initiative, but it also makes a number of recommendations for country coordinators, stakeholders, policy makers and other participants regarding future deployments of ECSM.

A total of 27 European countries have taken part, 23 of which are European Union members. Tens of events took place all over Europe, including workshops, conferences, online and outdoor campaigns, lectures, competitions and exhibitions.

ENISA says it’s open for ideas on updating the ECSM website. In addition, preparations for next year’s event will start soon.
