The European Union Agency for Network and Information Security (ENISA) has published a new report on data security and the use of cryptography.

The study, “Recommended cryptographic measures – Securing personal data,” provides data controllers with advice on how to protect the personal information they acquire by using cryptographic techniques.

ENISA highlights the fact that security measures and mechanisms are not enough for privacy and the proper protection of personal data. That’s why the latest paper details all the protection mechanisms that can be used to protect personal data in different stages of the lifecycle.

In addition to this report, ENISA has also published a paper on the algorithms, key sizes and parameters.

The recommendations made by the agency are mainly addressed to maintenance engineers and system developers who work in commercial environments.
