EMOBILE is launching its mobile broadband data service in the metropolitan areas of Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya on the 31st of March. It will offer a flat rate mobile broadband data service including full Internet access from PCs with 'EM Mobile Broadband' adopting 3.5G HSDPA technology in all of the aforementioned areas.

The service will be offering downlink speeds of up to 3.6MBps and 384kbps maximum uplink speeds. The service will be available for a YEN 4980 ($43) fee and won't have any data limit at speeds of 3.6MBps for PDA's, laptops and PCs. EMOBILE will also launch the EM-ONE, the next-generation mobile broadband device, designed to deliver a high-speed, always-on broadband environment as an alternative to a PC.

It's Japan's first handset with a W-VGA (800 x 480 pixel) resolution running Windows Mobile 5.0 and comes equipped with a 4.1 inch liquid crystal screen. At only 18.9 mm in width, it also includes a QWERTY keyboard and is considered to be one of the slimmest mobile phones of this type.

EMOBILE has worked with Sharp and Microsoft for the planning stage and together they've developed various functions that will be a premiere on the Japanese market. The three companies will continue working together in the future in order to promote marketing on the ever-growing mobile broadband market.

The EM-ONE represents a blend between Sharp's cutting-edge technology and expertise when it comes to mobile devices and Microsoft's technology that combines Internet broadband communications and mobile devices. The EM-ONE was named after EMOBILE as a new mobile handset that satisfies the needs of the user for both office and personal purposes.
