
While apple continues to dominate the digital music market, owning 75.6 percent share of the US industry according to data from the NPD Group, EMI Group Plc has revealed the inking
of an agreement with Microsoft, concomitantly killing rumors of Zune's video capabilities delay. Dispelling postponing speculations related to Zune's video features, EMI Group Plc - ranked third among the worlds top music companies - has announced that it will be the source of preloaded music videos on Microsoft's upcoming digital music player.
According to EMI sources, music videos from bands such as 30 Seconds To Mars and Hot Chip will find their way onto Microsoft digital media player, prior to its official release due sometime later this year. EMI representatives intimate with the Microsoft negotiations steered clear of discussing details related to Zune, but stated that the Redmond Company will collaborate with additional record companies in order to provide similar services.
In this context, Universal Music has confirmed negotiations with Microsoft related to the same aspect but withhold from disclosing any details. Additional comments were made on the distinctive features embedded in Zune like wireless and sharing capabilities, differentiating it from iPod.
