The 2012 MTV European Music Awards were last night. Held in Frankfurt, Germany and hosted by supermodel and television personality Heidi Klum, the event was possible in association with Windows and Replay.

The night didn’t hold too many surprises as regards the winners but it wasn’t any less spectacular because of that.

Taylor Swift consolidated her status as the world’s favorite country pop singer, winning Best Female. She’s young but she’s also incredibly relatable, so fans can never get enough of her.

She also took home the award for Best Live and Best Look.

Justin Bieber too got another confirmation that he’s the biggest teen idol of our times, even though he probably has as many “haters” as he has loyal supporters.

He won Best Male and, even though he wasn’t there to accept the award, still managed to get his Beliebers thrilled.

His protégée Carly Rae Jepsen, she of the “Call Me Maybe” fame, one of the most parodied songs of recent years, also won big, taking home the award for – what else – Best Song.

Carly added another award to the collection with a win for Best Push.

Psy, the South Korean pop star who is literally the biggest viral star of the year with his “Gangnam Style,” won Best Video.

He was in attendance at the awards show and, in between rubbing shoulders with the A-list, also found the time to meet American reality television royalty Kim Kardashian, at the show with her beau, rapper Kanye West.

Not the kind to miss the opportunity to share this with her fans, Kim tweeted a picture of the three backstage.

British pop band One Direction won Best Fans.
