There's a black and metallic grey version too, but it's only one of four

Even though NVIDIA has finally released its GeForce GTX Titan Z dual-GPU video card, many people are likely to buy the Radeon R9 295 X2 instead, so EK decided this was an opportune time for the EK-FC R9-295X2 water block to make its debut.

You see, even though the GeForce GTX Titan Z is overpowered, and has 12 GB of GDDR5 VRAM, it costs twice as much as AMD's card.

AMD card which is pretty much just as powerful as NVIDIA's, despite only having 8 GB GDDR5 VRAM of its own.

Sure. NVIDIA's latest driver might bring about a boost to the Titan Z, but it's not enough to justify selling for $3,000 / €3,000.

Not when the AMD Radeon R9 295 X2 has a price of only $1,500 / €1,500. And you know that something is seriously bizarre when that sum of money is considered small.

Indeed, the difference is so high that prospective buyers might not even feel the added cost of a water block.

That's where the new product from EK comes in. Called EK-FC R9-295X2, it is available, or will be available, in four versions.

There's the normal water block, priced at $170 / €170. It cools the GPU (graphics processing unit) the RAM chips (random access memory) and VRM (voltage regulation module) directly.

Also, the newcomer features the tried and true very high flow design, which ensures that even water coolers with weak pumps make the best of it.

The base of the cooler is made of electrolytic copper, while the top is made of quality cast acrylic material.

And this is where the differences between it and the other three versions come in. There's a water block with a nickel-plated base, one with a POM Acetal top, and one with both these variations.

The prices are of $172 / €172 for the Acetal block, $185 / €185 for the Nickel-plated base model, and €187 / $187 for the Acetal+Nickel cooling module.

All versions of the EK-FC R9-295X2 ship with pre-installed screw-in brass standoffs and refined 0.7 mm wide microchannel structure.

Finally, a black backplate can be acquired, featuring a price of $35 / €35. It shouldn't interfere with multi-card setups (up to four EK-FC R9-295X2 can be linked together, and each takes a single slot, not two like the default air-based coolers). Drop by the EK Webshop or Partner Reseller Network for more info or to place an order or two (or four).
