The news may periodically include headlines dealing with certain new consumer-oriented monitors or TVs, but while professional displays are not very many in comparison, they aren't exactly scarce either, as proven by EIZO, whose lineup is about to grow by one.

EIZO is well known for being a provider of professional monitors with resolutions well beyond the ones that consumer displays 'limit' themselves to.

Most regular displays settle for the HD (1,366 x 768 pixels) or Full HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) resolutions, since those are the standard high-quality video formats.

When it comes to professionals, however, a higher resolution enables a wider workspace and better productivity, not to mention more minute attention to detail.

The company's most recent product bears the name of FlexScan SX2762W-HX and sits comfortably with a native resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels.

It is a widescreen monitors that utilizes an IPS panel and has a diagonal length of 27 inches.

Among its assets is the fact that it covers 97% of the Adobe RGB color space, while its other parameters are in line with its purpose as a panel for working tasks.

In addition to the 6ms response time, there is a contrast ratio of 850:1, plus a maximum brightness of 270 cd/m2.

Other specifications include a DVI connector, DisplayPort, a mini DisplayPort and even a pair of USB (universal serial bus) ports.

Finally, for optimum power efficiency, EIZO's product has not just an ambient light sensor (which adjusts brightness according to the room lightning) but also a motion sensor, which pushed the FlexScan SX2762W-HX into a power saving mode when there is no one in front of it.

Sales are expected to start on Feburary 9, for the price of $1,533 and with a five-year warranty. In the meantime, the product page can be found here.
