EIZO just released its latest monitor which, while not exactly capable of HD media, has a variety of advantages, such as a non-scratch surface and the ability to be used as a nearly flat surface, that make it suitable for industrial applications.

The FlexScan T1751 is designed with a VA panel, has a diagonal of 17 inches and its non-scratch surface is made of reinforced glass.

One thing that can be seen as a disadvantage is the native resolution of the newcomer, which is not Full HD-ready, not even HD-capable in fact.

EIZO settled for 1,280 x 1,024 pixels and the 5:4 aspect ratio, which mostly leaves any sort of high-quality multimedia out of the question, although this may not be a big problem considering the target market.

On the other hand, the company did implement a multitouch panel that supports both finger and stylus input, even gloved hands. This is possible thanks to the optical imaging touch screen technology.

The viewing angle is also decent, at 178 degrees, which should prove quite useful when tilting the display from its upright position into its more or less flat pose.

This sort of tilting is enabled by the LaidBack stand, which can tilt back in six stages from 15 to 65 degrees.

Other specifications include a contrast ratio of 1,500:1, a headphone jack, two 0.5W speakers and a sensor on the front bezel called Auto EcoView.

This screen sensor can automatically adjust the monitor's brightness depending on ambient lighting conditions.

Finally, EIZO threw in DVI-D and D-Sub outputs, Energy Star 5.0 compliance and two color options, one black and one with a two-tone cabinet (gray on the front and black on the rear and sides).

The company has, unfortunately, not disclosed any pricing or release details, but did mention a two-year warranty.
