A few weeks ago, word broke out that EFix had this hefty USB dongle which, once attached to your PC (not Mac), will enable you to run OS X from the original Mac OS X DVD. EFix has updated its site with some more details on its device, including support for "official Apple Updates."

According to EFix, in order to run OS X on your PC, all you need is an original copy of Mac OS X (not a cracked copy), a regular PC sporting the minimum system requirements for your preferred version of Mac OS X and, of course, the EFiX hack dongle.

"The EFiX USB device is the ultimate device for all those who dream about a working Mac OS X installation on PC," says EFix. "It bridges the gap between PC and Mac worlds. Also, it provides the unique ability to experience an unmodified Mac OS X installation and operating environment directly on your PC. Don?t change your habits and your lifestyle for a computer - this should never be the case. Instead, let the EFiX USB device adapt the functionality of your PC to improve the quality of your work and life," the company states on its website.

Some of the new things EFix has updated its site with include the ability to install Mac OS X Leopard and Leopard Server from original retail DVD, the possibility for the average user to install Mac OSX without fear of needing professional knowledge and (check this) system updates through the official Software Update from Apple.

Other benefits include online updates of EFiX firmware, EMI & RFI protection, an Interactive system boot selector and working power management Features such as Shutdown and Reset, although this is strictly for PC users.

Just to make sure everyone knows what EFix is and what it does, it is a solution for running Mac OS X on a PC, allowing the user to install Mac OS X straight from the original DVD, without having to install patches, replace files etc. So if you have a PC and want Leopard on it, EFix is the answer.

Note: Softpedia doesn't encourage the use of hack-dongles such as the EFiX for Desktop PC, or EFiX for notebooks.
