The exact specifications aren’t known yet, but the new tablet should take on the iPad mini

If the Xioami MiPad wasn’t enough for you in terms of iPad clones, here comes another attempt, this time provided by EE which has just unveiled the Eagle tablet.

The slate's design is pretty reminiscent of the Huawei MediaPad M1 and even if the full spec list hasn't been officially confirmed yet, it’s very possible that Eagle's specifications are quite similar too.

The Eagle is a 4G device that is quite affordably priced, costing just £199.99 / $338 / €246 on a pay-as-you-go deal, or £49.99 / $84 / €62 if you choose to acquire it with £15 / $25 / €19 monthly data plan, reports Pocket-Lint.

The 8-inch slate takes advantage of a quad-core processor and offers 16GB of internal storage and a 5MP rear camera.

There’s a lot of information that has been left out, but it will probably be made available when the slate arrives in the UK on May 28. For example, we don’t know what version of Android the tablet will be running, but in order to be called a proper iPad mini contender, we should see KitKat arrive onboard of the device.

EE is in the process of offering double speed 4G connectivity to 20 more cities by the end of the year.
