While some companies are making last-minute product launches, others are getting ready to make as good a show as possible at the upcoming CES expo, and ECS is one of those that aims to grab the attention of users looking for tablet PCs.

By now, consumers will have learned that the media tablet market is here to stay, something corroborated by the many companies that revealed their respective devices.

Already there are a bunch of Android or Windows tablets on sale or on the way, most of which will make an appearance at the 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES).

That said, users are unlikely to be surprised by hearing that Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS) is well on track to do something of the sort.

As a new report by Digitimes has it, the company has a number of 7-inch and 10-inch devices planned.

Some of them will be running a version of the Android operating system, and will likely employ a platform based on the ARM architecture.

The report places the Marvell processor or Samsung's SoC (system-on-chip) among the platforms one can expect to find. Others will run Windows and will utilize Intel's Atom processors.

No doubt the tablet makers will have tried to grant them all the multimedia and connectivity capabilities they could muster, Flash playback included.

Unfortunately, no actual hardware details are known, except for the fact that whatever batteries the tablets will feature will manage to last for up to 8 hours on a single charge.

The same report also mentions that ASUS and MSI are preparing some tablets of their own, both companies going for the double approach as well (are making both Android and Windows models).

What remains to be seen is which slates end up standing out over the rest and how the tablet market evolves over the course of 2011.
