It is supposed to steal customers from Intel NUC and Gigabyte Brix

Mini PCs aren't many out there. Sure, there are parts for them, and cases, but pre-built ones aren't in great number, with Intel's NUC and Gigabyte Brix coming to mind. Now, ECS is adding one too.

Called Liva mini PC, it looks like a small black box, with perforated ridges on the top for ventilation.

Inside there lies a hardware configuration involving 2 GB of DDR3L onboard RAM, 32 GB eMMC storage and a compact system board running an Intel Bay Trail-M SoC (system-on-chip).

The list of outputs and other connectivity interfaces includes the following: Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, stereo HD audio, Gigabit Ethernet and two display connectors, specifically HDMI and D-Sub.

All in all, the spec sheet it pretty much par for the course, although the small storage capacity and the SoC are chosen in order to make the thing affordable. Speaking of which, the price will be of under $200 / €145.

All in all, not too bad but not spectacular either for a product measuring 118 x 70 x 56 mm /4.64 x 2.75 x 2.20 inches and weighing 190 grams / 0.41 pounds. No clue when sales will start though, or at least pre-orders. We just have some photos of the thing, courtesy of the Japanese.
