It is a motherboard with triple Density moisture proofing and heat-resistant caps

Motherboards have been coming out a bit more rarely lately, owing to the flagging interest in computers by consumers, but there is still a steady stream of them, one that ECS has just contributed to.

Elitegroup Computer Systems has formally launched the Durathon Z87H3-M mainboard, described by its maker as “the ultimate high-value motherboard for high-end gamers and demanding PC users” despite its size.

And by size we mean the micro-ATX form factor which, while not necessarily limited, lacks the tremendous expansion capabilities of full ATX and larger models.

Then again, this product is supposed to sell for only $100 / €100 when it becomes available this month, so it makes sense that ECS would go with a smaller size.

Besides, it's not like a high-end PC needs more than two add-in graphics cards, and the two PCI Express x16 slots have that covered nicely.

As the name of the motherboard suggests, the newcomer is based on the Z87 Haswell-ready Intel chipset.

We'll get the basic specs out of the way first: four DDR3-1600 memory slots (32 GB max), a PCI Express x1 slot, a PCI slot, USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports (two and four), six SATA 6.0 Gbps ports (SATA III), headers for extra USB ports (four USB 3.0, 10 USB 2.0), Gigabit LAN, HDMI, DVI and VGA, plus on-board 8-channel audio.

ECS also made sure to design the newcomer with the Triple Density moisture-proof PCB, 100% durable, heat-resistant solid capacitors, heavy-duty ESD (electrostatic discharge) protection on the external connectors, and ultra-high Extreme Temperature Resistance.

Furthermore, the EZ charger technology will help users recharge phones, tablets and other gadgets even when the system is off.

Other benefits include eBLU BIOS Live Update Utility, eDLU Drivers Live Update Utility, eSF Smart Fan Utility, and Intel Smart Response tech (SSD caching as it were).
