With almost every motherboard manufacturer releasing their own socket LGA1366-based motherboard, designed to support Intel's latest desktop computer chips, it is relatively hard to tell the difference between one product and the other, as all basically provide the same features. However, ECS decided to take things a bit further, placing its bet on the overclocking capabilities of Intel's Nehalem platform, which are said to provide users with an incredible performance potential. This is why the company has announced that its new, "top-of-the-range" Black Series X58B-A "Nehalem" motherboard has reached a base clock speed of 215MHz.
This will basically enable overclocking enthusiasts to benefit from an impressive overclocking potential, delivered by their Intel Core i7-based computer system, as the QPI (Intel's QuickPath Interconnect technology) can be taken to 7.7GT, up from the standard of 4.8GT. In return, this will present users with a processor clock speed of 4.0GHz using air cooling. This number can easily be taken higher when using a more extreme cooling solution, which can be based on either a water or a Liquid Nitrogen solution.
In addition to the motherboard's incredible overclocking capabilities, ECS will also offer customers other rich features, such as ECS Qooltech II, and the M.I.B. overclocking technology. These two features are meant to boost the motherboard's cooling solution, and provide users with an easy-to-use overclocking utility, which should nicely meet the requirements of all those overclocking enthusiasts.
Ever since it was first rumored, Intel's Nehalem architecture has been said to bring to users unprecedented levels of performance, even by Intel's standards. In addition, the Core i7 processors are expected to provide users with a real overclocking experience, different from what the socket LGA775-based processors could provide. However, recent reports indicate that AMD's upcoming Phenom II processors will also come with impressive overclocking capabilities, so we could say that technology enthusiasts will have new toys to play with.
