ECOPC N.1A Ubuntu-Running Fanless Nettop Hits Korea

While the nettop segment hasn't really managed to record some spectacular growths over the past year or so, there's still a constant demand for such products, and that's exactly the reason why Korean company ECOPC has recently introduced its N.1A model, that delivers a fairly standard configuration, but comes pre-loaded with the Ubuntu Linux operating system.

The thin, fanless computing system is built around an Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz Processor, accompanied by a mobile Intel 945GSE Express Chipset and up to 2GB of DDR2 533MHz SO-DIMM memory.

Moreover, the device incorporates Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 (Intel GMA 950) onboard graphics, 2 x S-ATA 3.0Gb / s and 1 x P-ATA ports for adding storage units (HDDs or SSDs), as well as 2ch Realtek ALC662 audio with Intel HD audio support.

Plus, the nettop also comes with plenty of connectivity and networking interfaces, including here 3 x USB 2.0 Host, D-SUB, DVI, Audio Out, DC Input, wireless antenna hole on the rear side and 2 x USB 2.0, headphone and microphone jacks on the front side, plus miniPCIe expansion slots.

The ECOPC N.1A shouldn't take too much space around the house, given the fact that it measures just around 178 x 195 x 40 mm, and if you really want to make it “disappear”, you can employ the VESA mounting screws or wall-mount bracket in order to do so.

Furthermore, following the company's policy, the nettop is also quite eco-friendly, requiring only a very small amount of power in order to operate normally, namely 14W, while standby power consumption levels are restricted to just 1W or even less.

The ECOPC N.1A sells for around 440 000 South Korean Won, which translates into roughly 394.24 U.S. Dollars, a fairly OK price point, given the overall set of features this ultra-thin, fanless computing system has in store.
