Electronic Arts's Origin online digital distribution service was briefly taken offline earlier today after a big DDoS attack perpetrated by hacker group DERP, the same team that took down the PlayStation Network and other online games in the last few days.

Hacker attacks have grown in intensity in recent days as a new group of nefarious individuals have appeared online, calling themselves DERP.

While at first they took down various online games like League of Legends or PlanetSide 2, not to mention services like the PlayStation Network or Batle.net, the group now took down via a DDoS attack the Origin digital distribution service from Electronic Arts, according to its Twitter.

For a brief period that lasted a few hours, users were unable to log into Origin or access the games they bought via the popular service.

EA got it back online and is apparently conducting investigations after the attack.
