Electronic Arts has confirmed that its Origin digital distribution service has over 21 million registered users, a massive jump from the 9.3 million that were confirmed back in February.

Origin may be one of the “youngest” digital download platforms in the business, celebrating one year of activity earlier this summer, but this hasn’t stopped it from attracting quite a lot of users, largely because it’s the only place where they can experience games like Battlefield 3 or Mass Effect 3 on the PC.

Now, the company has once again showcased Origin’s popularity, confirming that it currently has over 21 million registered users, including over 9 million mobile ones.

Given the fact that one of Origin’s bestselling titles, Mass Effect 3, was launched in March, you can bet that this major increase is due to BioWare’s latest role-playing shooter experience.

Besides this large number of users, Origin also has partnerships with over 57 independent developers, so expect to see all sorts of new games on the service.
