The Sims 4 was officially revealed during the recent Gamescom press conference from Electronic Arts, and the team working on it says that one of the main reasons for the new features is the excitement of the player community and their feedback.

Ryan Vaughn, a producer working on the new game, states in an official Question & Answer session that “It’s actually the fans that continue to drive our excitement about The Sims. It is their undying passion that energizes us, and their continued devotion that inspires us to create the kinds of games and content that we want to play.”

The developer claims that his studio is constantly using both Twitter and the official forums to gather new ideas, some of which might actually become part of the game.

The Sims 4 introduces a new generation of simulated characters, which have been upgraded in order to have more emotional capabilities and to deliver a better overall life experience.

Vaughn adds, “These are revolutionary new Sims with emotional centers that behave and react more naturally than ever before. Every one of their actions is affected by their emotional states that lead to richer, more meaningful gameplay.”

In the new game players will be able to interact directly with their Sims in order to change their physical and mental characteristics on the fly and create more varied game scenes.

At the same time, all the game tools have been redesigned to make it easier for players to create houses and fill them with objects.

The Sims 4 will be a completely offline experience because Electronic Arts has learned from the fiasco with the most recent SimCity and does not want another launch period filled with problems.

The game is expected at some point in 2014, but the company is not willing to talk about launch platforms yet.
