EA and Maxis have a hell of a time with their SimCity launch in North America. In fact, there are problems in all regions, so regardless of their location players are likely to experience connectivity issues.

Although EA announced it has added a number of additional servers in Europe, Oceania and other regions, the connectivity issues are still far from being addressed.

Initially launched in North America, SimCity was unplayable in the first few days after its release. However, the next information might improve the situation, as Electronic Arts and Maxis have just announced they will upgrade some North American servers.

According to an official tweet: “SimCity Server Update: We'll be temporarily taking down NA West 1 & 2 for a server upgrade. We'll update when they're back up.” So stay tuned for more info on this one.

UPDATE: Maxis has just confirmed North America West 1 server has been successfully upgraded and players can now continue to build their cities. West 2 server is still down.

UPDATE1: North America West 2 serves has been successfully upgraded as well. Game on!
