Since video game publisher Electronic Arts has picked up the Star Wars license from Disney, fans of the universe have wondered how the company plans to exploit it and how new products will interact with the new movie trilogy.

Frank Gibeau, who leads the Labels division, tells IGN that, “It’ll be complementing the movies, the way that the Batman games have done. It’s in the world of DC’s comics, the world of Batman, but it’s not a literal playback of the film.”

Electronic Arts says that it will invest in Star Wars in the long term, aiming to explore the universe’s ability to expand to a number of genres.

We know that, at the moment, DICE is working on a new Battlefront video game, which will evolve core mechanics of the series.

Visceral and BioWare are also said to be working on Star Wars titles.
