It seems that the developers at EA Sports that are working on Madden NFL 12 will be including a new game mechanics which will prevent those players that are diagnosed with a concussion from returning to the field of play in order to continue the game.

Geroge Atallah, who is the assistant executive director at the NFL Players Association, has sent a tweet which reads: “Good for EA Sports. Concussed players in NFL Madden prevented from returning to play. Culture change is important.”

EA Sports has been offering information on player injuries that threaten to end their careers since the launch of Madden NFL 10 and the game also warned gamers that putting injured players back in the game would increase the risk of them becoming unavailable in the long term.

The National Football League has introduced a number of new safety linked rules since 2009, with the aim of making sure that players that get a concussion are not at risk of injury by being sent back to play after a short examination.

Since then a number of investigations and medical studies have shown that concussions linked to hard tackles are a problem in the long term, often leading to medical issues for players after they retire from American football.

The NFL is thinking about adding more rules designed to limit the chance of concussions happening.

EA Sports has offered limited information about Madden NFL 12, saying that the game aims to be closer than ever to the realities of the game.

This could include a bigger focus on man management and on the impact of injuries.

At the moment, the owners of NFL teams and the association that represents the players are locked in a conflict over salaries which threatens to derail the start of the new season.

EA Sports is committed to launching Madden NFL 12 in August of this year and has launched a competition to see who will land on the cover.
