The voting process includes 16 athletes, ends on December 1

Video game developer EA Sports has announced that the cover of its upcoming UFC title will be dominated by the figure of Jon “Bones” Jones, the youngest champion in the history of the sport, with fans called upon to choose the fighter who will accompany him.

Jones is an exceptional athlete who has changed the way the public understands the spirit and the combat of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

The combatant said that, “I am a big fan of EA SPORTS and appearing on a cover is one of those things you dream about as a kid. I’ll definitely be following the Cover Vote to see which fighter the fans choose to join me as the face of the game.”

The EA Sports team says that the 16 fighters that are included in the popular vote are: Demetrious Johnson, Chris Weidman, Dominick Cruz , Junior Dos Santos, Urijah Faber, Chael Sonnen, Jose Aldo, Michael Bisping, Anthony Pettis, Alex Gustafsson, Ben Henderson, Daniel Cormier, Georges St-Pierre, Ronda Rousey, Johny Hendricks and Miesha Tate.

Gamers can start supporting one candidate or another today and the voting period will end on December 1 at midnight EST.

The entire process is created in partnership with MetroPCS.

The official site is now open and gamers can also double their influence by using fighter specific hashtags on Twitter Vote Thursdays.

Dean Richards, the general manager of the UFC title says, “The UFC is the first new major sports league partnership for EA SPORTS in over a decade and to stay true to the sport, we’re featuring two fighters on the cover. We couldn’t be more excited to be working with Jon Jones and we can’t wait to see who fans choose to join him in sharing the spotlight.”

The game will be launched in 2014 on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 and will use the new Ignite engine in order to deliver a simulation of the most important aspects of the sport.
