Reports are claiming that after NBA Elite 11 was canceled last week, publisher Electronic Arts has eliminated some position at EA Canada and EA Tiburon in order to create one consolidated developer team which will be in charge of creating new sports simulation games.

1UP claims that inside sources say that Electronic Arts is creating a company structure where each of the big sports franchises will have its own general manager who will have the authority to coordinate development across multiple studios.

The reports are saying that Moira Dang, who was the general manager at EA Canada, is no longer working with Electronic Arts, while Philip Holt, who was in the same position at EA Tiburon, will find another position inside the company.

They will all then report to Andrew Wilson, the senior vice president of EA Sports, who is the link to overall leader Peter Moore, the man who is the president of the EA Sports division.

A statement from Electronic Arts states, “We're making organizational changes to our development team at EA Sports that will be better for the franchises and better for our people.”

"We continue to proactively evolve our team to better position ourselves with improved product quality and growth in revenue for our shareholders, to share technology and lower our development costs, and to pioneer new innovation in digital experiences for our consumers.”

All the moves seem to be prompted by the fact that Electronic Arts has canceled NBA Elite 11, after initially claiming that the game was just delayed and would be released at some point during next year.

When the delay was announced the publisher said that feedback from the players linked with the demo and internal evaluations showed that NBA Elite 11 needed more time in development to add more polish.

Electronic Arts is plugging the gap with the new NBA Jam, which is now a multiplatform launch.
