The cover for any game is something very important, as it needs to catch the attention of the gamer and lure him in with the most representative thing in the game. This is especially true for sports titles, which, through their yearly editions, have generated a lot of hype around the athlete they would feature on the cover.

Among them, the most important franchise is EA Sports' Madden NFL, as it has featured a wide variety of athletes on the covers of its iterations over the years. Being one of the most important and best-selling titles in North America, you can clearly see why the player featured on the cover will consider himself quite lucky. But a lot of the hype surrounding this matter has also been generated by the so-called Madden Curse, as many players have been injured after appearing on the cover of the game.

Now, as part of the hype campaign for the upcoming Madden NFL 10 release, the marketing team at EA Sports has released a teaser website that will reveal all of the athletes that are in the race to land on the cover of the future game. Up until now, they have made public the names of only 5 players, but they won't stop until all of the 9 choices will be displayed. Here are the athletes so far:

Ben Roethlisberger – QB Pittsburgh Steelers
Brandon Jacobs – RB New York Giants
Adrian Peterson – RB Minnesota Vikings
Ed Reed – S Baltimore Ravens

The player that will have the honor or bad luck to be featured on the cover will be announced on Friday, April 24, during the NFL Draft. Until then though, you can place your bets on all of the players that will be featured on this website.

Who do you think will be gracing the Madden NFL 10 cover this year? Is he present in these four athletes or are you still waiting for him to be announced? Leave us your choice in the comment section below this article and we will see on the 24th who was right.
