The development team at EA Sports confirms that its new NBA Live 14 basketball simulation will be launched exclusively on the PlayStation 4 home console from Sony and the Xbox One from Microsoft.

The game will use the entirely new Ignite engine, which is designed to use the most advanced features of next-gen devices.

Daryl Holt, the general manager of the NBA Live team, confirmed the information for GamesIndustry.biz after other executives from Electronic Arts had hinted at the exclusive deal.

The NBA series from EA Sports has been troubled in recent times, with two games canceled because concerns over final quality.

NBA Live 14 is designed to get the franchise back on track and is expected to offer a stiff challenge to the rival NBA 2K14 from Take Two.

The launch will take place soon after the Xbox One and the PS4 become available.
