Developer EA Sports and Virgin Gaming have announced that they are launching a new installment of the Challenge Series that awards overall prizes of 1 million dollars (792,000 Euro).

The competition is open to all those who have purchased a copy of FIFA 13, NHL 13 or Madden NFL 13 for the PlayStation 3 from Sony from GameStop.

Rob Segal, the chief executive officer at Virgin Gaming, stated, "Last year’s inaugural EA SPORTS Challenge Series was a tremendous success, delivering an unrivaled competitive gaming experience online and at the live event finals in New York City."

He added, "With millions of fans eagerly anticipating the launch of the new EA SPORTS games, we’re going even bigger this time around, showing both our players and partners how exciting the future of competitive gaming is with Virgin Gaming."

The Challenge Series starts on September 11 of this year and all those who are interested in taking part need to register at the official Virgin site.

The final live event will take place in Las Vegas and will feature 640 players.
