EA Sports is home to some of the most important Electronic Arts franchises, like FIFA and Madden NFL, and the leader of the division says that the developers working on them are forced to move ever faster in order to keep up with the player's ability to devour new content.

Andrew Wilson, who is the new president of EA Sports after Peter Moore has been promoted to Chief Operation Officer of EA, has told MCV during an interview that, “It’s an incredible challenge for us. At EA Sports we have typically been the fastest movers in all of EA and now there are consumers that are moving exponentially faster than us. So we are doing our best to indoctrinate our people, helping them increase their clock speed, and bring in new talent that has lived at this speed who can help spread that message.”

The executive says that the entire structure at Electronic Arts is being changed in order for the company to create content faster while not sacrificing any quality.

Wilson added, “Had you asked me whether that was possible a couple of years ago, I wouldn’t have been able to give you an answer. Is it possible today for EA Sports to exist at internet speed? Yes, because we’re doing it today. We respond to consumers and speak to them at a real speed.”

The EA Sports boss also believes that all the players in the video game industry need to step up the pace of development and make sure that they are delivering experiences that are tailor made to the profile of their players.

The risk of not doing so is seen in the destiny of the music industry, which failed because it could not keep up with its customers and insisted on packaged real world goods when everyone was moving to the digital realm.
