The development team at EA Sports have confirmed that Bruce Lee is now part of the official rooster for its UFC title after a leak from a retailer and the developers are now ready to offer more information about the way they decided to make the legendary fighter a part of the experience.

Brian Hayes, the creative director for UFC, states in an official interview that, “You have the premier organization in the fastest growing sport in the world, the UFC; and the most iconic martial artist in the history of the world, Bruce Lee – a martial artist renowned for his philosophies that laid the groundwork for modern mixed martial arts. I can’t conceive of a universe where bringing these two things together doesn’t make sense.”

Gamers will be able to unlock Bruce Lee by completing the single-player portion of the game or they can simply pre-order the UFC title in order to have access to him as soon as they launch the new experience.

The team says that it already had a solid roster before it found out about the Bruce Lee opportunity and then got worried that it would be unable to create the likeness of the late movie star and martial arts practitioner.

EA Sports adds, “We were quickly connected to Bruce Lee Enterprises who provided us with not only an impressive catalog of digital references spanning Bruce’s acting career, but many behind-the-scenes and candid shots that helped us identify the specific era we wanted to capture as well as the iconic elements of his face and body.”

Apparently, the studio also had access to a life sized cast which delivered an experience that was similar to scanning the real person.

The development team also promises that it will create a UFC likeness for Bruce Lee, who is instantly familiar to all those who have seen him in movies or in public appearances.

The new Ultimate Fighting Championship simulation from EA Sports is designed to use the Ignition engine and will be launched only on the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 from Sony.

It will allow players to choose from an extensive roster of fighters or create their own customized version before facing a variety of challenges in the octagon, which can only be completed by understanding the real-world sport and its unique elements.

The game will be launched on June 17 all over the world via both retail and digital distribution.
