Electronic Arts has shut down the Guilford-based Bright Light Studios, at least according to a brand new report coming from sources connected to the matter.

Bright Light was responsible for EA’s series of licensed Harry Potter games, including the most recent Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, which didn’t exactly reach the sales EA had hoped for, partly because of its low quality.

Now, it seems that the end of the Harry Potter movie series also means the end of the Bright Light Studios, with Develop magazine saying that its doors have been closed by EA at the end of last year.

EA has relocated part of the company’s staff to its other UK-based studios, including Criterion Games or Playfish, although some have seemingly moved to other developers like Jagex or Supermassive Games.

Hopefully, for the sake of the Bright Light veterans, things will turn out alright and we’ll get to see other projects come to life with their help.
